Joint Venture in highway maintenance between Accord Plc and Jarvis Plc. Primarily highway maintenance for “Transport for London” and the Highways Agency. Based in London and the Midlands with a turnover of £43m. Now running 1 contract for the Midlands (previously 3).




Reporting to the Chairman of the Board who is changed every 6 months alternating between Accord and Jarvis. Attending Board meetings as Company Secretary and manage the Finance Department with 2 staff.

  • Production and distribution of full management accounts to timetable.
  • Administration and payment of salaried staff.
  • Coordination of pension activities.
  • Managing P11d’s and keeping information for IR.
  • Assessing credit ratings for prospective customers outside of key clients (Highways Agency and Transport for London).
  • Invoicing customers and performing credit control duties.
  • Managing the balance sheet and reconciling all accounts on a monthly basis
  • Production of financial accounts for auditors and providing assistance during audits. Raising contentious items with the Group FD from either Accord or Jarvis.
  • Assisting with IT innovations and upgrades etc. Formulated Company computer security procedures and introduced uniform company-wide anti virus software.
  • Policing and auditing finance procedures.
  • Attending monthly meetings for current contracts and raising queries with managers.
  • Monitored annual cover opportunities with insurance brokers and introduced use of a motor accident management company.
Achievements Include:  
  • Devised and introduced a driver training scheme. This has recently been implemented and has radically reduced annual insurance premiums.
